In November 2012 Printable Reality invited individuals, communities and poets to submit favorite poems on the team of identity/belonging, for a stage project : “Aotearoa Found in Translation”. The initial response was overwhelming – resulting collection of poems was edited and transformed into 40 minutes spoken word performance by Printable Reality Actors Ensemble, complemented by sounds and images.
The competition winers are:
Maris O’Rourke, Auckland
Raewyn Alexander, Auckland
Gill Ward, Kapiti
Now you have an opportunity to read some of those works featured in an online poetry anthology: “New Dialogs and New Beginnings”. With a verity of voices from across New Zealand, from well established and known artists to the 10 and 12 year old young poets this is a collection that reflects on our place in the world, celebrates a spirit of opening new dialogs and signaling new beginnings. An all-inclusive marking of the NZ cultural identity – threads from which the tapestry of our modern day Kiwi-culture is woven.
Thank you to all poets participating!
Thank you to the competition judges: Gail Romano and Laurice Gilbert.
Special thanks to : Creative Communities NZ, Auckland Multicultural Society, Matariki Festival Trust, Poetry/Spoken Word Art Trust NZ and TAPAC.
